North Port

 North Port, Florida is located in Sarasota County, Florida and is half way between Tampa and Fort Myers.  One of the fastest growing parts of North Port is Wellen Park which has been incorporated into the City of North Port but has a Venice, Florida mailing address.  Wellen Park is approx. 10,000 acres and will have approx. 30,000 homes when fully built out. Wellen Park was formerly known as West Villages, and was rebranded to differentiate it from "The Villages" located elsewhere in Florida.  North Port is home to Warm Mineral Springs which boasts 85 degree water year round.  In addition to the purported healing powers of the water, there have been numerous significant fossil discoveries in the springs.  North Port, FL is the only City in the State of Florida with an entire state forest located within the city limits.  The 8,000 acre Myakka State Forest offers, hiking, canoeing, horseback riding and much more.  Although North Port does not have it's own beaches, the nearest beach is only 20 -45 minutes away.  Golf courses are prevalent and are available in public, semi-private, and private courses.  Many country club courses offer exclusive membership and all the amenities one would expect.
